Chapter Chat

We are taking part in Chapter Chat this term.  We are reading the new book by David Walliams called 'FING" Each week we have a number of activities and questions to complete.  On a Friday we share our responses on a dedicated Twitter site for Chapter Chat.  This is a nation wide activity set up by a local man.  We can watch how other schools are learning about Fing too.  Its very exciting!

Beach clean up 2019

Beach clean up 2019
Beach clean up was a great success.  Thank you to all our parent helpers, we couldn't do activities like this without your support.  Thanks to our FOOS parents for the yummy sausage - always a highlight for the kids. We all enjoyed practicing a safe river crossing and although we didnt get to swim we all realised how cold the water was!
Strolling along messenger terrace

                               Strolling through Matakai park

Notices

Kia ora, I've had a few emails regarding over due library books.  If you could please double check your child's books and return to the library asap.
Have a lovely holiday everyone.
See you next term.

Just a reminder that tomorrow we have our end of term class party and our farewell Ollie and Dom.
It is also pyjama day fundraising for Foster families.

On Tuesday 2nd July we will be having our end of Term class celebration.  The children are allowed to bring a toy or game to play with on this day.  When they are not being used in class they will be secured in my office.
Can you please send a small plate of food to share with the class for lunch.
We will take this opportunity to farewell Ollie before he departs for France and Dom before he moves to Auckland.  We will be sad to see you both go!

Life saving skills and swimming

Year 3 swimming carnival
The year three children had a fabulous afternoon showing their parents some of the skills they had been practicing in the school pool.

WATER SAFETY

The children are learning how to scull water and raise one arm at the same time!  Raising one arm at the beach indicates to the life guards that you require assistance.
We are also learning to float for a sustained period of time.

YEAR 4 swimming sports
A day where the children got to put into action all the swim practice they had been doing in the pool.
Swimming sports was a fun day. It was great seeing all our Year 4s getting involved in as many races as they could

Welcome to Room 4

We are a composite class of 26 year 3 and 4 children and our teacher Mrs Nightingale.
In term one 2019 we will be focusing on getting to know one another, school values/rules and heroes.  What does it mean to be a hero in our own lives but also heroes within the community.

We will be swimming for the first 8 weeks.  Please ensure your child brings their named togs and towels, goggles and cap everyday.

Later in the term we will be visiting our local Marae so we will be learning all about Marae protocol.  More information on this visit will be posted at a later date.

It is important that we are all sun smart.  School hats are compulsory in Term one and four.
We have class sun block for the children to use.
